ANCHORS AND WEIGHTS.......

Anchors and weights. Two words that serve the same purpose, however they are very much different biblically. Last night as I was reading scriptures, God placed these two words in my thoughts. It made me think about how each one serves it's own purpose according to God's word.

As a Christian, we look to the Anchor as Hope. God is our Hope in all things. As I reflect on that word, I think about other things it represents. We find peace and it is a foundation. We are God's vessels.

Hebrews 6:19 says, "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain."

God wants us to remember that we are to hold onto our hope in him. He wants us to be encouraged and rest in that assurance that all his promises will come true for us. We will inherit the promises of God.

When we look at the word Weight, we think of sin. Sin weighs us down heavily. In Hebrews 12:1, "Wherefore seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight..." Carrying weight (sin) hinders us from living an obedient life. We can't please him even if we have the desire to do so. We must lay everything aside. If we want to please him, we have to choose to remove all things that weigh us down that would hinder our walk with God.

When we carry out our walk with God and use him as our Anchor through life, we build a permanent foundation in our relationship with him and also with others. Romans 5:5 states, "And Hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us." It is our character.

In closing, I carried a lot of weight over my entire life. Still today there are things that I must learn to let go of. I am a vessel of God and that is why he told us to guard our hearts. Placing my life in God as my anchor has changed the outcome of my daily life. Trusting him gives me peace. Psalm 39:7, "And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My HOPE is in you."

Controlling Your Thoughts

I must say..... this one I struggle with the most. The enemy makes every attempt to have me in my thoughts constantly. My husband once told me, "My wife is like a box of chocolates, I don't know who I am going to wake up next to, or come home to." It was hurtful to say the least, but it is true. I don't even know who I am at times. I am constantly harboring bitterness, shame and pain from my past. I am haunted by it in my thoughts. I have hurt many people on my path. However, these are things to which I have absolutely no control over, because I can't change the past. What I can do, is control my thoughts.  I know I have been given Grace from God and that I have been forgiven, still I have not forgave myself. The enemy says: My goal is to attack your mind with worry, fear, doubt. I will create chaos. I will do anything to keep your mind off the Lord. And we allow him that control. Controlling my thoughts is one of the hardest things to do. John MacArthur quoted, ...

JUST ONE WORD......

Yesterday, I came across a blog (SSweetly.com Sydney Stephens), and it spoke volumes to me. The blog was called, “This One Word Changed My Life.” One word. You think to yourself, what word could possibly change my life? In my case, the one word that changed her life was the exact word that changed mine and continues to change my life daily; “ODEDIENCE.”   I have been a Christian since I was 12 years old. I still remember that day fondly. The day I took Christ into my heart, to the day I was baptized by the holy spirit. I was so young. Through the adult years I knew Christ, I tried to lead a good life, but still I was living worldly ways and was searching for things in a world so messed up. I was doing it my way. I seriously thought my way was better. I have been through two marriages and 2 long term relationships. I even went through jobs trying to find something that would make life better. While I have went through many storms in my life, nothing prepared me for what was abou...
